When Money Becomes Emotional:
A Workshop on Communication and Financial Well-Being

Money is one of the most common sources of stress in relationships. Yet, the conflict around money is rarely just about numbers. More often, it is connected to emotions, personal history, values, and unspoken expectations that shape how we think and feel about finances.

In therapy, conversations often revolve around communication patterns, boundaries, anxiety, and relationship dynamics. One area that consistently surfaces in couples and families is financial stress. When money conversations become charged with emotion, it can lead to defensiveness, misunderstandings, and ongoing conflict.

This upcoming workshop brings together two important perspectives: emotional awareness and financial insight.

I will be co-facilitating this workshop alongside a financial professional colleague. Together, we aim to create an educational and supportive space where participants can better understand the emotional and relational side of financial conversations.

During this workshop, we will explore:
  • Why money often triggers conflict in couples and families
  •  How nervous system responses can show up during financial conversations
  •  Different financial personalities and money patterns
  •  Practical tools to communicate about money without escalationWays to move from blame and defensiveness toward collaboration and partnership

This workshop is designed as an educational experience, not therapy and not financial advising. Our goal is to provide insight, tools, and a framework that helps individuals and couples approach financial conversations with greater clarity, confidence, and mutual understanding.

Money can be a sensitive topic, but it can also be an opportunity for deeper communication, alignment, and partnership when approached with awareness and the right tools.
